Amazing British Cheeses
Hosted by Todd Trethowan & Ben Ticehurst
Todd Trethowan, Cheesemaker and Specialist Cheesemonger Ben Ticehurst will guide their audience through a number of artisan cheeses at the Bristol Wine and Food Fair. They will compare 5 farmhouse cheeses and 2 supermarket cheeses. They will use these cheeses to illustrate the benefits of using unpasteurised milk and animal rennet, and the difference in flavour and texture between a handmade cheese and a factory produced one. Todd and Ben will talk about some of the technical aspects of cheesemaking and give the audience the opportunity to taste and discuss a selection of some of the best British farmhouse cheeses.
They will present modern and traditional cheeses, soft, hard and semi soft cheeses made from goats, sheeps and cows milk and invite the audience to compare their taste experience. There will be plenty of opportunity to ask questions.
Todd Trethowan has been making cheese for 20 years and making the award-winning Gorwydd Caerphilly for 13 years. In this time, he has won Best British Cheese at the World Cheese Awards and Best Traditional Cheese at the British Cheese Awards.
Ben Ticehurst is a specialist cheeesmonger with a great depth of cheese knowledge and passion for British and Continental cheeses. He joined Trethowan's Dairy from Fresh and Wild in 2008.
