The World of Chardonnay
Hosted by Quentin Sadler
For many people Chardonnay is the most famous wine variety of all and it is fitting that we rediscover the beauty of this grape.
The Chardonnay vine is quite adaptable and can be produced in hot wine regions like California, South Africa and Australia, where clever wine-making can give it tropical fruit flavours and the suggestion of oakiness.
In cooler wine regions such as Chablis, Carneros and Tasmania, it can produce apple-crisp wines with rapier acidity.
In more temperate climates Chardonnay can yield some of the finest dry white wine in the world like in Burgundy and the Cote d'Or. Names like Montrachet, Puligny-Montrechet, Meursault, stand second to none.
Quentin Sadler has spent over 24 years in the wine trade. He is a regular judge at the Concours Mondial de Bruxelles wine
competition, a member of The Association of Wine Educators, a member of The Circle of Wine Writers and a Wine & Spirit
Education Trust Recommended Tutor.
With such a rich variety to chose from, Quentin will select 6 wines that he considers superb examples of this grape, taking you to new places of enjoyment.
